Courtyard of Honor

The God-King Palace has four major courtyards or gardens: the Holy Enclosure, the Courtiers' Garden, the Courtyard of Honor and the space where the Inner Palace stands.

The Courtyard of Honor owes its name to its role in hosting major official ceremonies. This vast esplanade is divided into two parts: the northern section is paved and only shaded by a few trees around its perimeter, while the southern part, bordered by the Old Wall, features a beautiful garden with rare plant species. Surrounding this Courtyard are colonnaded galleries on three sides (north, east, and south), while to the west runs the Gallery of Confidences and the upper Galleries that connect the northern and southern parts of the Palace.
