The Convent of Pendular Hermits is a religious building located in the Simulacrum district, on The Terrace of the Punishment in Laelith. It is a place that perfectly embodies the tormented and mysterious soul of this part of the city.

This convent is a rickety and chaotic building, as if each part of the structure had been added over the centuries without a precise plan, creating a labyrinth of corridors and rooms. Clinging like a limpet to the cliff overlooking the Inlam, this is where the horrible pendular hermits, climbing monks, trapeze artists, and bungee jumpers, who drop into the waters at the end of their ropes to gather fish and shipwrecked goods, hide.

If they stayed perched in their cloisters, public opinion would consider them only as gentle lunatics, but having not taken a vow of poverty, the suspended ecclesiastics play missionaries throughout the Terrace. Perched on the heights of the buildings and clinging to a cable, they drop onto passersby to steal their valuables in an acrobatic sleight of hand.
