This is an old revision of the document!

The Crooked Roof House

Slightly north of the Seven Kingdoms Circle, on the western side of the Smithing Ladder, a massive building stands out from the rest of the neighborhood. It is the only visible remnant of an ancient wall of Laelith. This structure, carved into the thickness of the rampart, has retained its massive walls where a few rare windows have been pierced. Its crenellated top has been replaced by a slightly askew roof, hence its name. The Crooked Roof House escaped demolition and survived several disasters, notably a violent fire, accidentally started by a young boy. The fire quickly spread around and was only extinguished after two days of struggle. The boy was none other than Parrap, who later became High Priest of the Firebird, then God-King under the name Colocynth II! Legend has it that a bird of flames, a Simorgh, emerged from the blaze to protect the young boy and lead him unharmed from the fire where his companions perished. Sentimental, Colocynth II opposed the demolition of the house and placed it under the protection of the law on historical or sacred buildings. Reputed to be haunted, the building has often changed occupants. It currently houses the headquarters of the Basket Weavers Guild. Certainly, basketry is very combustible, but the weavers consider themselves protected by the bird of flames.
