The Fishery
On the lake, on the other side of the Inlam, housing the enormous building of Fish Market and the fishing ports, is the Fishery district. Every day that the Gods make, 10 to 15 tons of fish find some buyers there. Guards and tax collectors are legions here.
Wealthy fishermen live in the district itself, not far from the docks. The others, the majority, live on their boat, which serves at once as their home, sales counter, and work tool.
The northern side of the Fishing Port, crowded with these house-boats, is distinguished from the southern part with its larger and better-equipped boats, owned by wealthy craftsmen or traders from the neighboring terraces. Brawls sometimes break out in the tavinns of the port, between the “real” independent fishermen and the “employees” of the shipowners. The former accuse the latter of stealing the fish from their nets, and nickname the place “Hagfish Harbor”…
There is a large quantity of tavinns all offering “the best lake fish soup recipe” on their menu. And some dark ladders house the headquarters of several guilds of thieves and assassins. A district to avoid, especially at night…
