The Prodigal Owl
The Prodigal Owl is a small pawn shop located in the popular district of Bath-Oh!, in the heart of The Terrace of the Mist in Laelith. Discreet and above suspicion, it is located near the Pearl post, thus ensuring the safety of travelers and locals.
The facade of the shop is modest, blending perfectly among the dilapidated houses of the district. Only the sign, a rusty owl with flaking blue paint, distinguishes it from the others. The half-closed shutters, in poor condition, give the impression that the shop is permanently closed. Some whisper that the owner, Theophrastus, might well use some of his money to freshen up the front.
On fine days, Theophrastus often leans on the lower part of the entrance door, observing passers-by and potential customers. On rainy days, transactions take place inside, in a small dark room, filled with shelves and displays. You can find all sorts of objects, from bone lighters to flint to wooden legs inlaid with precious stones.
A curtain hides the reserve, dug into the rock, where bulky objects and the loot from thefts intended to be sold in The Lakeshoe district are stored. A cupboard hides a secret passage leading to the basement. The floor in front creaks when the weight exceeds 55 kg, that of Theophrastus.
A moving staircase leads to the upstairs apartments, including a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen and an office where Theophrastus secretly writes love poems to Dune Wolf, a guard of the Pearl.
The Prodigal Owl is thus a discreet and mysterious place, where the inhabitants of the district come to pawn their goods, in the hope of recovering them one day.
