They handle transactions and civil legal documents necessary for the smooth functioning of commerce on the Terrace. The most distinguished members of these noble professions have shops along the Aldermen Scribes Ladder. Some practice in rather exotic fields, such as Master Spumone Savaretti, a notary whose Study is located at number 22 on the Ladder. This large, well-dressed man specializes in drafting “quest contracts,” which allow local authorities or individuals to assign missions to adventurers for a limited period of time. The remuneration always includes a fixed portion and a portion tied to the expected outcome.
