The neighborhood gets its name from ancient quarries, now disappeared, whose stones, with their very recognizable ochre tone, were used to build most of the houses in the terrace. Some claim that one of these quarries is still being exploited, in the depths of the Cloaque. A secret entrance, supposedly located behind one of the houses that line Stones ladder, would allow access to this quarry and thus offer a discreet entry into the Cloaque. Most of the artisanal objects sold at the Great Emporium are made in the Quarries. The wages here are not very high, but there is no shortage of work. More than one pilgrim who has fallen on hard times has come here to spend some time replenishing their purse.
