The neighborhood of The Vertigo gets its name from the eponymous Vertigo Ladder, which is particularly steep and runs through it in part. From this neighborhood, one can reach the terraces of The Lakeshoe and The Hand That Crafts by crossing the Nîn Bridge first. It is bordered to the north by the Bakers Ladder, where the famous detective Evarilion Bombogarogan and his friend Doctor Fourbridges reside at 221bis. The Vertigo Ladder connects the New Bridge Fountain, adorned with a grandiose statue of the God-King Gwanul III carried by four wind spirits, and Zyglute Square, where a statue has been erected in memory of a strange three-legged bird found on a moonless night in the Four Faces Ladder. The neighborhood of The Vertigo is more residential than commercial, which is a notable exception on the Terrace.
