Phalanx Pond

In the heart of the Fevers Tree district, in The Terrace of the Punishment, lies the Phalanx Pond. It's a unique place, both frightening and fascinating, that exudes an aura of mystery and desolation. The pond is a dark and stagnant Reflecting Waters, surrounded by dying vegetation, which seems to reflect in its murky waters. Strange vapors sometimes escape from it, giving the place an atmosphere of a waking nightmare.

The Phalanx Pond gets its name from the shape of its basin, which resembles a clenched hand. The inhabitants of the district see it as a sign of the curse that weighs on The Terrace of the Punishment. Despite this, the pond is a gathering place for the most desperate, those who have nothing left to lose. They come here seeking some semblance of comfort, or even a form of purification, in these murky waters.

At night, the pond takes on disturbing hues. The reflections of the moon on the water give it a silvery color, while the shadows of the dead trees are outlined on its surface, creating a tableau that is both dark and captivating. The Phalanx Pond is an emblematic place of The Terrace of the Punishment, a symbol of its downfall, but also of the resilience of its inhabitants.
