Convent of Pendular Hermits

The Convent of Pendular Hermits is a religious building located in the district of The Simulacrum, on The Terrace of the Punishment in Laelith. It is a place that perfectly embodies the tormented and mysterious soul of this part of the city.

This convent is an imposing building, constructed with the cursed stones from the ruins of the Temple of the Elders. Its thick and dark walls are adorned with grimacing gargoyles and statues of saints with tormented expressions. The architecture is chaotic, as if each part of the building was added over the centuries without a precise plan, creating a labyrinth of corridors and rooms.

Within the convent live pendular hermits, solitary monks who have chosen to withdraw from the world to meditate on divine mysteries and the enigmas of life. They are known for their iron discipline and their devotion to their faith, spending hours in prayer suspended from ropes fixed to the ceiling, in a symbolic imitation of hanging.

The Convent of Pendular Hermits is a place of contemplation and prayer, but also a place of mystery and fear. Rumors say that the monks have the power to communicate with spirits and predict the future, and that the walls of the convent are haunted by the souls of the former monks who lived there. It is a place that fascinates as much as it scares, a symbol of the complexity and duality of Laelith.
