Formerly located near the Lazaret, the caravanserai is now installed outside the walls, north of the Barracks of the Corps of Protectors of the Holy City. It is a multi-functional building: a stop for caravaneers traveling the convoy route that serves the north shore of Lake Altalith; care for riding and pack animals; Warehouses for temporary or medium-term storage; an inn for travelers with Dormitories and individual rooms; a place for recording incoming or outgoing goods; Offices for currency exchange; interpreter services; etc. The surroundings are always crowded and a nomadic camp permanently borders the site with its tents and yurts intended to accommodate all those who cannot find accommodation within the walls.

Today, given the resurgence of importance this city access is gaining, the place might perhaps become the nucleus of a new suburb.
