The Dwarvery

Halfway between the Kingdoms and the Workshops, between the Smithing Ladder and the Leathercrafts Ladder, lies the district of The Dwarvery - sometimes called the Dwarven City. It was here that over a millennium ago, the dwarf workers called upon to participate in the construction of Laelith were given permission to settle with their families.

They built “corons” to their own scale, two or three stories high. Each one includes a small nursery and a school, and even an apartment where the rare Dwarves too old to work can spend their last days. Each Coron is governed by a council of the Elders, represented by a master of charges on the council of The Dwarvery, led by their grandmaster elected each year. He represents his fellow citizens to the institutions of Laelith, thus preserving the principle (in theory) of the independence of the Dwarven City.

On the other hand, what is not theoretical (even if it's not official!), is that no non-dwarf person will be able to settle in this “reserved district”. Even to simply enter, one must be accompanied by a Dwarf who serves as a guarantor to the visitor, or be the bearer of a permit signed by the grandmaster of the year.
