House of Remembrances
Situated in Murky Town on the High Terrace, the House of Remembrance is a unique building, possibly the only private museum in Laelith. Nestled at the end of the Ladder of the Stumpy Jogtrotter, this building stands out for its picturesque architecture, a blend of ancient and modern styles. The museum is now owned by Fombrice of Bullypulley, an aesthete who also dabbles as an art dealer.
The museum entrance is marked by a heavy carved wooden door, depicting scenes of daily life in Laelith. Once inside, visitors can wander through three floors, discovering in each room different aspects of life in Laelith, practically since its creation. At least, that's what the presentation texts claim. Some rooms are dedicated to everyday objects, others to clothing, and still others to currencies. A superb gallery of paintings illustrating the evolution of Laelith through the ages occupies the entire top floor.
The ground floor is occupied by a souvenir shop, offering a wide range of handcrafted items, jewelry, and typical city clothing where visitors can chat with the museum owner while enjoying a beer brewed according to a recipe dating back to Trundle the Valiant.
Due to the objects on display, the museum is also an important source of information about the past of laelith, which can help advance investigations related to the city's history.
The House of Remembrances is actually much more than simple shop though; it is a true meeting and exchange place where residents and travelers can share their experiences and swap memories of Laelith. Fombrice remains silent when questioned about the origin of the objects on display. A little-known rumor refers to two young magicians who supposedly managed to travel back in time and brought back the presented objects. The two magicians mysteriously disappeared before Fombrice acquired the building and turned it into a museum.
Access to the basement is forbidden and protected by several thick doors with complex locks. It is said that beneath the museum lies a now-defunct portal that allowed the magicians to travel back in time…
