Public Stables

Located in the heart of the Military Quarters in the Lakeshoe terrace, the Public Stables were originally part of the Corps of Protectors Stables. This set of edifices is a key element of the official architecture of Laelith. Established facing the Great Carrousel, these stables are a true symbol of the ceaseless activity that reigns in these places.

Built of black granite, the Public Stables stand out for their robustness and austerity. They house the mounts of merchants and other visitors to Laelith, when the Caravanserai, located outside the city, on the other side of the Eastern Gate (or Caravans Gate) overflows. Needless to say, their almost constant presence gives these stables a vibrant atmosphere, mixing the neighing of horses with the characteristic smell of leather and hay.

Inside, the space, organized with military precision, reflects the image of the former occupants. The stalls are aligned in perfect rows, each horse having its own space. Dedicated employees work day and night to ensure the well-being of the animals, providing their food, grooming… for a cost barely higher than that charged at the Caravanserai.

The Public Stables are also a meeting place for citizens and the military. People come to admire the horses, discuss the latest news, or simply enjoy the unique atmosphere that prevails there. Despite their primarily military original function, these stables are a place of life in their own right, reflecting the spirit of Laelith: a mix of rigor, vitality, and openness to the world.
