Originally, the New Distillery was supposed to be set up on the terrace of the Hand That Crafts, in an old building off Philters Ladder, in the district of the Bird. The symbolism was beautiful but from the construction's start, merchant guilds rose up and opposed, sometimes violently, this new establishment. Under the pretext of obnoxious smells, various nuisances, and the loudly expressed fear that this “kind of establishment” could attract a variety of intoxicated individuals at any time of the day and night…

And the merchants guilds won! So new entrepreneurs crossed the Ladder of the Three Inns and decided to settle on the Lakeshoe, at the southern end of a set of solid and healthy buildings, on Golden Goblet Ladder. The name of the Distillery was all found.

Since then, the district has been known as the New Distillery and the establishment thrives and actively contributes to the fame of these places, concocting fine, tasty, distinguished products, intoxicating and subtle nectars, delighting palates everywhere in Laelith and the Six Provinces. And life here is as good as in the neighboring district of the Phoenix.
