| Originally, The New Distillery was supposed to be set up on the Terrace of the Hand That Crafts, in an old building of the Philters Ladder, in the district of the Bird. The symbolism was beautiful but from the beginning of the work, merchant guilds rose up and opposed, sometimes violently, this new establishment.
