Hospice of True Knowledge
The Hospice of True Knowledge, located on Hospice Square in The Observatory district, is an iconic building in Laelith. This religious edifice, belonging to The Terrace of the Mist, is known for providing psychiatric care to the destitute sick or anonymous notables.
But behind this noble mission, troubling rumors have been circulating since the reign of Teaphanerys IV. Indeed, the Hospice is suspected of “reconditioning” political dissidents through illegal treatments. This Venerable institution has thus become the center of an “extraplanar” conspiracy theory. According to this century-old rumor, Sigis of Estienne, a former patient, is a being from another world. Some scholars and even ecclesiastics claim that the mental recovery of patients is temporary and that the True Knowledge manipulates their minds. They also assert that these patients will one day awaken to take control of Laelith.
The Hospice of True Knowledge is therefore a mysterious and unsettling place, where psychiatric care and secret conspiracies intertwine. Its tuffeau facade with ochre tones, slender openings, and geometric columns perfectly reflects the orientalist architecture of Laelith. But behind this beauty lies a historical depth and a dark dimension. The flamboyant domes of the Meteorology & Astronomy Palace stand alongside the Hospice of True Knowledge, creating a unique atmosphere where past and present meet.
The Hospice of True Knowledge is thus a place that is both fascinating and unsettling, where the boundary between true knowledge and extraplanar conspiracies seems to blur.
