Opera Nin I

The Great Emporium district is renowned for its dynamism and the variety of activities and businesses that can be found there. Adjacent to this market, the grand amphitheater and the Opera Nin I are two major monuments of Laelith, dedicated to exceptional performances.

The Opera Nin I is of recent creation (early in the reign of Nin I), built to partially replace the old theater now gone, which became the grand amphitheater. More intimate in its dimensions than the old theatre of yesteryear, the opera consists of two halls adapted for lyrical, musical, and theatrical performances, highly appreciated by residents and visitors. It is also where the famous verbal jousts that have made Laelith renowned take place.

A place filled with majesty and mysteries

This jewel of local architecture, dedicated to entertainment and culture, is in itself a dramatic representation, with its colorful frescoes, stage curtains with a magical ambiance, ceilings with changing decorations in view, and chandeliers that seem to float above the spectators.

The two halls themselves are spectacles. The first, dedicated to the lyrical arts, contains about 4,000 seats; it's small compared to the capacity of the grand amphitheater, but this hall is perfectly designed for its purpose, with a unique acoustics that can be adapted thanks to movable panels, for the performances.

The second hall, circular, with its central stage that can be raised or lowered, partially or entirely, and its circular stands capable of rotating 360° during the performance, is ideal for performances with innovative staging. The audience is “blown away”! The set elements emerge from the depths or descend from the sky, the actors seem to float, the music and voices come from everywhere…

This opera is a masterpiece with a varied and daring program that has no limits other than those that the creators of the shows offered throughout the year can dream of and their imagination conjure up.

The verbal jousts

These speeches are a tradition in Laelith. Mixing religious themes with the mysteries of life in general, the orators verbally confront each other on stage, facing an audience that reacts vigorously to the arguments of the jousters. Today, these jousts mainly take place in the circular hall, and with the stage effects it offers, they are no less spectacular.

The Opera Nin I is the symbol of the cultural richness of Laelith, the reflection of its prosperity, like the terrace that hosts it, a place where art, beauty, and mystery are celebrated with great pomp. It is a must-see for any visitor to the city, a place where one is carried away by the magic of music and spectacle.
