In the heart of the Fevers Tree district, in The Terrace of the Punishment, lies the Phalanx Pond. It is a mirror of dark and stagnant waters, surrounded by dying vegetation that seems to reflect in its murky depths. Strange vapors sometimes escape from it, giving the place an atmosphere of a waking nightmare.

The Phalanx Pond gets its name from the shape of its basin, which evokes the divine Fist that struck the city during the cataclysm called The Punishment. The place has a bad reputation: a beggar fell into it some time ago and has since been incessantly telling horrors and making apocalyptic predictions.
