In the war that The Punishment wages against those who populate it, battles are often fought through attrition and it can count on its two most loyal soldiers, Anguish and Misery. But in the district of the Jumble, the attacks are more direct: gravity plays tricks on you, as in the Askewed Ladder, the Bustling Street tries to digest you in broad daylight with a great deal of tentacles, the wind seeks to throw you into the void if you have the misfortune of getting lost in the Dead Street. Strange phenomena sometimes occur there, as sudden as they are brief, like the day when invisible and sharp threads zigzagged from one wall to the other of the One-Eyed Street, at varying heights, literally turning the artery into a cutthroat. This district owes its name to the fact that you should not trust your perception when you walk its alleys, for the good reason that everything there is topsy-turvy.
