Akélanos de Boer
Akélanos is the younger brother of Stavros de Boer, Prince of the Radiant Isles, a volcanic archipelago where is perpetuated a very ancient solar cult dating from the first days of the World, long before the construction of Laelith on the ruins of Tanith-Lenath. The princedom owes its prosperity to the three diamond mines it houses.
As the second son of the ruling family, Akélanos found himself thrust at the head the cult of Helios. Everything was going very well until the day when a total solar eclipse plunged the population of the archipelago into panic. It was interpreted as a bad omen and as a punishment for the princely high priest behavior. To calm his flock, Akélanos decided to undertake an expiatory pilgrimage to the Holy City. He entrusted the direction of the cult to his younger sister, Délia, and gathered a caravan laden with riches constituting an offering for the Firebird temple, to which the cult of Helios was logically to be attached. Akélanos traveled under good escort, but the pilgrimage was not exempt from various incidents which repeatedly put his life in danger. Fortunately, Akélanos was able to count on the support of his God, who made his spiritual powers grow throughout the journey. Arrived at Laelith, Akélanos carried his offerings to the temple and negotiated in exchange the fact of being housed for free. He quickly got used to the religious life of Laelith and decided to stay in the Holy City to pursue a career in the Firebird Temple, with the secret objective of becoming its high priest as soon as possible.
He immediately understood that to quickly climb the ladder of power, he had to think outside the box. But how ? The answer came to him from an encounter with a brilliant musician from the Divine-Royal Academy of Fine Arts: Dame Elloryne. She crossed his path one evening, after a performance at the Grand Theater and seemed to find his company very pleasant. They soon began an improbable but delicious relationship. As he got to know her, he realized that Elloryne, a native of Laelith, had built a vast network of acquaintances throughout the city. She suggested that he gather around him a small group of adventurers with complementary skills and start honoring a few contracts to build a small reputation that would then allow him to serve the most powerful citizens of Laelith. Akélanos approved this project without any prevention.
Elloryne introduced him to Jimmy Lightfeet, a nimble and lithe young man who specialized in low-key action. For his part, Akélanos set out to find an honorable fighter (and unrelated to the Firebird Temple, to avoid any leaks about his project…). He set his sights on a paladin attached to the Nebula Temple, Sir Galladon, who agreed to join him to see some action. Akélanos, who thought four was a good number to start with, stopped his search there. To exercise his activity as an adventurer, he thought it best to leave the accommodation offered within it by the Firebird Temple. He opted for a suite at the Plump Loaf inn, 173 Bakers ladder (at the expense of the temple of course), large enough to stay there with his three companions (and even a few other if the group were to grow). Good for him, because barely had he moved in when he was contacted by Eledhwen, a mysterious elf magician, who offered him her services on the sole condition of being able to regularly have time for herself without anyone in the group trying to find out what she would do with this time. Akélanos and his three companions agreed to her terms and Eledhwen joined the party.
