The Witches

Whether the Witches were born from the Punishment's own travails, from the speeches of exiled Olyzianes stipulating that among sisters there is less fear, or from a purely practical collegiate grouping of dark witches, professional poisoners and other doomsayers, it is clear that women are unusually numerous in this neighborhood. And, among them, the number of those practicing an occult art defies all statistical averages. It would be naive to believe that women could find any refuge in the streets of the neighborhood on the pretext of a possible female solidarity. But it would be foolish to imagine that a man could make his law here… Crossing the narrow winding alleys, males are often uncomfortable, with the constant impression of dozens of eyes fixed on their neck. The residents encountered cease all activity to scrutinize passers-by and display an enigmatic smile that some would qualify as evil, or even greedy! As for their taste in decoration, it is frankly limited: the garlands of cat intestines, the nets of blood flowing in the gutters in the middle of the district's arteries or the charms carved from twigs and bones… All this is far from contributing to improving the reputation of the neighborhood!
