This district is not limited to the Ladder of the same name, and there are far more than four merchants with their commerce in here. But the shops in question represent the cream of the craft of Laelith! The fact that a craftsman leaves the Remembrance to settle in the Four Merchants is a sure sign of professional success and the quality of the items he crafts. Unfortunately, this also means that the items in question will typically be sold for several times the price of very similar items in the Remembrance Workshops…

The flip side of this coin: this professional and commercial success has attracted the attention of unsavory characters. Of course, the merchants of the district did not take long to realize the risks they were running! However, since watching their shops is not the primary mission of the God-King's police, they quite often resort to private companies, or even to sturdy and penniless pilgrims.
